Company History

1919

Suezo Ishida founded Ishida Rope Manufacturing, which started out making hemp rope, in Kataharacho.

1936

Expanded operations force the factory to move to its present location.

1948

Business growth prompts the company to become a joint stock entity.
Ishida Rope Manufacturing, Inc. begins with 800,000 yen in capital, and Suezo Ishida becomes its representative director.

1953

Capital increased to 1.2 million yen.

1954

Factory meets Hemp Rope Japanese Industrial Standards (Permit No. 3305).

1959

Capital increased to 2.18 million yen.
Capital increased to 6 million yen

1961

Capital increased to 9 million yen

1963

Capital increased to 12 million yen.
Production of synthetic fiber ropes begins.

1964

NK approves manufacturing of Vinylon Spun (3-strand).
Capital increased to 15 million yen.

1965

Factory struck by lightning, and is completely burned down.
A new factory is built.

1966

NK approves manufacturing of Vinylon Multi.

1967

Ishida Rope Manufacturing establishes Ishida Chemical, Inc. as its braided rope division.


Responding to rope manufacturing demand for larger ships, Ishida Rope Manufacturing helps establish the Aichi Prefecture Cross Rope Industry Cooperative Association as a foundation for general manufacturers of ropes.


NK approves manufacturing of Kuremona I (3-strand) and Hi-Zex (3-strand).

1968

NK approves manufacturing of Hi-Zex (Cross).

1969

Capital increased to 20 million yen.
NK approves manufacturing of Polypropylene Spun (3-strand),
Polypropylene Multi (3-strand), Polypropylene Mono (3-strand, Cross), and Nylon (3-strand).

1970

Equipment updated and facilities improved to meet the increased demand for cross ropes and binder ropes for the fishing and shipping industries.
System established for full-scale manufacturing of synthetic fiber rope.
Kota Plant in the Kota district built with floor space of 4,000m2 for future manufacturing needs. NK approves manufacturing of Nylon (Cross).

1972

Yasutaro Ishida becomes representative director.

1974

Ishida Chemical, Inc. changes its name to Shinko, Inc.
Factory meets JIS Synthetic Fiber Rope Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS, Permit No. 473066).

JIS L2705 Polyethylene
JIS L2706 Polypropylene

1975

Certified to bid on Japanese Defense Agency jobs.
Capital increased to 300 million yen.

1976

NK approves manufacturing of Polypropylene Multi (3-Strand, Cross).

1979

Trademark changed from Marusue to Taston.
Dialon Lite changed to Taston Lite.

1982

Begins manufacturing Taston Lite yarn using the Konyoshi process.

1983

Shinko, Inc. begins domestic sale of Shimenawa rope.
NK approves manufacturing of Taston Lite (3-Strand, Cross).

1984

Additional layers installed, and production line reorganized in response to growing demand for stone type and braided rope.
Main office moved to a new building.

1985

Construction sheet cleaning process started at the Kota plant.

1986

Plan formulated for increased production to meet increase in orders.

1988

Construction of second plant begins at Kataharacho.

1989

Large royal processors installed to meet growing trend in thermal processing.
70th anniversary celebrated.

1990

Acquires a 92,000m2 site in Kunisakimachi, Oita.

1991

Work begins on a new 6,600m2 plant in Kunisakimachi, Oita.

1994

Centralizes functions for the second plant at headquarters.

1996

Kota plant installs latest cleaning equipment.
Fourth royal processor installed.

1997

Embankment Royal Safe rope developed.

1998

High-strength Taston 5 strands developed.

1999

80th anniversary celebrated.


40-type and 12-type Royal Processors renovated.
Embankment Royal Safe II rope developed.

2000

New Royal The Cross equipment installed.


Begin selling Eslon King.

2001

Additional extruders installed to meet increased demand for Taston 5.

2002

Initiated research and development of biodegradablefibers.

Opened a new plant, JIANGYIN ISHIDA ROPE MFG INC, in Jiang Yin shi, Jiang Su sheng, Zhong guo.
Installed 2 more Extruders.
Fifth royal processor installed.

2003 Sixth royal processor installed.
2004 Opened a webbing plant China branch.
Seventh royal processor installed.
